SCION A/V LABEL NEW RELEASES FEATURE BIG DADDY KANE, PERCEE P, CONNIE PRICE AND THE KEYSTONES, AND DJ CUTLER

Scion's Audio/Visual label continues to channel the finest in emerging DJ and music talent with its next release of its sampler CD and vinyl series. DJ Cutler carries the torch in the mix CD series with Scion CD Sampler v.16, while Big Daddy Kane and Percee P join forces with Connie Price & The Keystones for an exclusive 12".

"Scion Audio/Visual opens up a path that connects creative artists and avid listeners," said Jeri Yoshizu, Scion sales promotions manager. "We encourage artistic creativity and the A/V label is one of Scion’s approaches to supporting the music community."

DJ Cutler, winner of Scion’s Free Up Your Mix contest, has put together a mix that showcases his scratching and juggling skills over a selection of underground hip-hop and breaks while featuring local acts from his hometown Buffalo, NY. This crate-digging connoisseur is also a member of the band Pseudo Slang.

Scion’s mix CD series was recently recognized by the industry-leading Mixtape Awards, founded by the late pioneer Justo Faison, with a nomination in the Best Promotional Mixtape category.

For the 12", revivalist funk group Connie Price & The Keystones revisit the classic Big Daddy Kane track for “Give A Demonstration – Part 2” complete with newly recorded vocals from Big Daddy Kane himself and horn arrangements by the Rhythm Roots All Stars' Todd Simon. The collaboration went so well that Big Daddy Kane and Connie Price & The Keystones recently performed together on a mini-tour in the Midwest as part of Scion’s Live Metro tour series. Veteran rapper Percee P is featured on the B-Side with his track “Thunder Sounds.” The packaging of the vinyl will feature original artwork and illustrations from acclaimed Los Angeles street artist Kofie.

You can see Big Daddy Kane and Connie Price & The Keystones, along with DJ J. Period and Scion’s 2005 Nextup emcee competition winner, Reach, in a series of upcoming Metro shows:
